UA: Художнє новаторство В. Вордсворта виявилося у системі персонажів. На відміну від традицій народних жанрів, де герої є представниками різних соціальних груп, герої балад письменника посідають маргінальне місце. У систему персонажів митця входять здебільшого прості люди, сучасники автора. Значну роль у баладах В. Вордсворта відіграють образи дівчат, які наділені особливою емоційністю та душевною вразливістю. Проста дівчина стає в художній свідомості В. Вордсворта втіленням романтичного світу та поезії озерного краю. Велике значення в системі персонажів письменника мають образи дітей, які зображені автором як особистості, що мають великий дар уяви.

EN: Artistic innovation of W. Wordsworth was revealed in the system of characters. Unlike the traditions of folk genres, where the heroes are representatives of different social groups, the heroes of the writer's ballads occupy a marginal place. The artist's system of characters includes mostly ordinary people, the author’s contemporaries. A significant role in the ballads by W. Wordsworth is played by the images of girls who are endowed with special emotionality and mental vulnerability. A simple girl becomes in the artistic consciousness of W. Wordsworth the embodiment of the romantic world and poetry of the lake region. Images of children, who are depicted by the author as individuals with a great gift of imagination, are of great importance in the writer's character system.
