EN: This article is devoted to the development of the vibration method for unloading bulk cargo from gondola cars. In Ukraine, more than 20,000 open-top cars carrying bulk cargo are handled annually. About 70 % of gondola cars are unloaded by the gravity method through open hatches. With this unloading method, 3 to 7 tonnes of cargo remain inside the gondola car, and in some cases up to 20 tonnes. One of the key indicators of the operational efficiency of a railcar fleet is the duration of loading and unloading operations, which depends on the efficiency of the mechanization equipment used. Vibration-type mechanization equipment is widely used for unloading residual bulk cargo from gondola cars. The results of recent studies confirm the feasibility of improving vibration-based mechanization equipment for unloading bulk cargo from gondola cars. This calls for both theoretical and experimental research. For experimental laboratory study, a vibration test rig needs to be designed. The main goal of the study is to develop a physical model of part of a gondola car body in the form of a vibration test rig for further laboratory research aimed at improving the vibration method for unloading bulk cargo from gondola cars. A test rig design is proposed, comprising a fixed platform on which, via four rubber strips supported by posts, a vibrating platform is suspended. A 1:10 scale model of part of a gondola car is mounted on the oscillating platform. The model includes a center sill, two cross beams, and a pair of hatch covers. The oscillating platform is fitted with a single-stage gear transmission with a gear ratio of 1:1. Unbalanced masses are mounted on the gear wheels, producing vertically directed oscillations. One of the shafts, on which a gear wheel is mounted, is connected by a flexible shaft to a separately installed electric motor with computercontrolled rotational speed. Based on similarity theory in physical modeling, the required parameters of the test rig were determined: the mass of the oscillating part of the rig, the suspension stiffness, the natural frequency of oscillation, and the mass of the unbalance. Working documentation for manufacturing the test rig has been developed.
